According to reports, Amazon UK has suffered a data breach exposing customers name and email address.
Many Amazon users have reportedly received an email with subject line “Important Information about your Amazon.com Account” stating that their website accidentally disclosed user email address and name due to a technical error.
Below given is entire text in the email:
We’re contacting you to let you know that our website inadvertently disclosed your name and email address due to a technical error. The issue has been fixed. This is not a result of anything you have done, and there is no need for you to change your password or take any other action.
Sincerely, Customer Service”
Amazon UK press office confirmed the data breach and said that users affected by the breach have been notified
The company also confirmed they have fixed the issue and users passwords were not exposed in the breach.
Amazon did not disclose details such as the number of customers affected by the breach, cause of the breach.
According to register other than UK customers from the US, the Netherlands and South Korea has also received the email regarding the breach.
