Zendesk discloses a data breach impacting around 10,000 users globally which was alerted by a third party. The information accessed includes passwords, email addresses, names and phone numbers.
Customer Service Software Company Zendesk is currently used by organisations worldwide including Über, Ola, Slack and Shopify.
“On September 24, 2019, we identified approximately 10,000 Zendesk Support And Chat accounts including expired trial accounts and accounts that are no longer active, whose account information was accessed without authorisation prior to November of 2016” team Zendesk.
Zendesk has launched an investigation into the incident to validate the claims of the third party and to determine the exact data and information that was exposed. How the exposure occurred is been investigated.
“Our security team is committed to determining the full extent of the data exposure and we will update you if we learn of any additional information that pertains to unauthorised access to your account so you can take appropriate proactive measures to protect your business,” says Zendesk.
Zendesk was also attacked in 2013, by a hacker who hacked three of their customers. Even though no evidence were found regarding all accounts registered before November 1, 2016, were affected company decided to alert all of them. Zendesk has informed all impacted customers directly and sharing the steps taken to safeguard their accounts and data. As per precautionary measure, Zendesk is planning to implement password rotation for all active agents.
